A couple of days away from the start of September, I am wondering where the summer went. I'm sitting in my new office room with Willow curled up asleep on my lap, writing a 'to do' list of everything I've been putting off.. The main thing that I will be doing over the next couple of weeks is finalising lesson plans ready for the start of the new term. I'm excited to get back to work, to start teaching again as well as to get inspired for my own photography.
Autumn is my favourite season and I am looking forward to the coloured leaves, knitwear and flavoured hot chocolates... It has always been a symbol of a new start for me (I changed schools a lot as a child and always dreaded being the new girl in September) but now I can definitely see this as a positive one.

This photo was taken in the beautiful light that comes through my studio window. I've seen it a few times and finally now I have grasped the opportunity to use it for a self portrait.
It also fits in with the self portraiture series that I have been doing... Although I abandoned it for a while recently, it is still a project that I am continuing. Throughout my process of shooting what I have so far and exploring self portraiture, I have been keeping the photos all separate, but now I am starting to bring them all together and will soon reveal what they are about.. which will help this make sense!
